The Kenyan National Theatre on Harry Thuku Road, opposite the Norfolk Hotel (tel: 020 225506), has an emphasis on the African arts and Kenyan playwrights, while the Professional Centre on Parliament Road, (tel 02C 225506; open Mon—Fri 10.00—17.00) is the venue for the Phoenix Players, have a wide repertoire and put on excellent performances.
If you want to go to the cinema, the best is at the Sarit centre in Westlands, which screens the most recent films.
In the city centre the 20th Century Cinema is on Mama Ngina Street.
