Zanzibar Land Animal Park (ZALA)

You are Here: › Zanzibar Land Animal Park

Zanzibar Land Animal Park (ZALA)is a well-established and family-run reptile park which does fantastic work in educating Zanzibari schoolchildren about their endemic species.

Most of the animals and reptiles are held in small open-air enclosures so you get to be really close to them and you can handle them if you wish.

I really enjoyed the visit, the guide (mohammed, the owner) was very knowledgeable and it was very interesting.

They were many types of snakes, including python and boomslang, also chameleons, tree hyrax (didnt come out of its hut), nile monitor lizard, smaller lizard, duiker, rabbits and tortoises.

Good fun and interesting; well worth a visit if you are in south zanzibar or near jozani forest.
