Mountain Rock Lodge

We visited the Mountain Rock Lodge over the Easter period. The welcome was not very grand maybe due to our arrival time which was late in the night. But the food quality was very good.

The rooms very well organized with a fire place. Since we were to try and climb mount Kenya the following day, Mr. John arranged for the vehicle and the guide to take us there.

Breakfast was setup for our group as early as 0530Hrs. We had a 3 year old and also some elderly who decide to stay back and the 3 year old was not disappointed as there is a play ground with slides and swings, horse riding and an artificial lake for boating.

The vehicle was waiting for us and took us to Sirimon gate at 2650Meters. From there we started our climb.

On the mountain Mr. Issac (guide) never left our side even though we kept on taking breaks due to the walk (not used to the high altitude as i come from Mombasa, a coastal town in Kenya).

It was fun. Though no one managed to get to Old Moses, the first base camp. I personally managed to get the half way point to Old Moses. The view from there was amazing.

Back at the lodge, dinner was another good meal and this time the fire place was lit up. The next day was an early start, once again the breakfast was already set.

A big thank you to all the staff for making this a trip to remember and for sure will be going back to finish what i started, get to Old Moses on Mount Kenya (:
