Try free services at Island Camp Baringo the next time you visit Lake Baringo in Kenya’s rift valley. Island Camp is located on Ol Kokwe Island, in the centre of chocolate-coloured 132 sq km Lake Baringo.

One of only two fresh water lakes in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Baringo is home to some 400 species of birdsincluding a number of rare varieties.

This is a five star luxury camp with 25 double tents as well as a restaurant and bar.

The campalso has its own swimming pool. Guests have access to a wide range of sporting activities that include water-skiing and windsurfing as well as fishing.

After dark, visitors to the camp can watch hippos emerging from the water to make there way to their nocturnal pastures.

The lake itself boasts a large numbers of seemingly harmless crocodiles. Boat trips for guests are provided by local Njemps fishermen.
