Kipepeo Beach Village Dar es Salaam

You are Here: › Kipepeo Beach Village

Whether you are looking for a place in the sun or an alternative to a noisy hotel in downtown Dar, Kipepeo Beach Village has it all. Located only a ten minute taxi ride from the Kigamboni ferry landing, the Kipepeo beach resort offers you two storey bungalows with 'ensuite' bathroom facilities or simpler badas (huts) right on the Indian Ocean beach.

There are good outdoor bar and restaurant facilities. You can rent guided dhow (local sailboat) service for fishing trips and sightseeing and lunch on the nearby Sinda Island.

I have stayed at Kipepeo 3 times now and I have to say that the Chalets which are set back from the beach are really light and airy - you don't need air con because you have a large balcony at the front of the bedroom and a window above the bed so there is always a sea breeze.

The beach is beautiful and the staff (although unfortunately not the owner) are very friendly and helpful. The chalets are very clean and comfortable - although not luxurious.

If you really want to experience something of the "real Africa" there is a village nearby that shows how local people live and a local eating place called "Mamma Africa" which serves local food - extremely cheap and quite nice food.

Dar Es Salaam is not far away and there are regular buses to take you to the ferry. I plan going again and will be taking my 2 grandchildren with me and one of my daughters next time.

The best things about the Kipepeo? It's comfortable, has good wi-fi for all those with laptops and iphones, plus it's right on the beach.

The setting cannot be beaten - on one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen, with lovely sand and warm sea. Swimming there after a long dusty drive was heaven!

And it was lovely, especially for us Ugandans, that the children could stay in the water for ages without their extremities turning blue! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Service at the restaurant was quite slow but the breakfast was worth the wait (we only had breakfast there as we had our other meals with our tour crew). Our children in particular enjoyed the pool table in the bar area!

Highlight of staying at Kipepeo: the mongoose family who live near the beach huts! We saw one or two from our verandah one evening, and then the next morning we saw the whole group - around 20+ individuals including very cute babies - crossing from one side of the clearing to the other..

Five stars go to the front desk girl by the name of Cecilia.,,, she was the best and can, we believe, bring you the moon if you requested...she really made our stay very comfortable and we vowed to go back every month...just to unwind and enjoy life’s little pleasures and luxuries....

Great location, right on the beach, security is great and its a plce to just go and rejuvinate and unplug from the rest of the world and plug with your partner...definitely works wonders on ANY relationship....Cheers to The Kipepeo Beach Village owners!!!
And the rartes are very friendly and fair... i must add

A quick dip in the ocean followed by a cool shower in your bungalow, then relax in the hammock on the balcony with an ice cold drink, and you will quickly forget the city only 9km away and all the problems and worries which you left there. You are now relaxed....POA
