The Plantation Lodge & Safaris

We checked into the Plantation Lodge in Ngorongoro Tanzania after being in a tented camp for several days. We stayed in Plantation House which is actually a house with two adjoining suites. The space was huge with lots of windows and bright light streaming in. The Lodge was kind enough to allow us to have both rooms so we could have our own bed and bath if we wanted.

The lodge was all inclusive. We enjoyed the meals. From what I recall, there was plenty of food and it was all very good. The staff was both appreciative of our business and attentive to our needs.

It was very nice to have a proper shower / hotel bar / restaurant after being in very nice tented camps. It felt decadent.

Our first night was a wine tasting in the hotels wine cellar and barbecue, which was fantastic, our second night was atypical meal at the hotel and was a set menu 4 course meal and was delicious.

Don't forget to try the home grown coffee

Overall this place is a wonderful oasis just about 30min drive to the crater. If you have any control on your safari and plan on going to the Crater, I would definitely recommend this place
