Ras Bamba Eco Lodge is an oasis of beauty and tranquility, a rare treasure. We spent a weekend there and wished we could have stayed much longer. It's an upscale family-run operation, with Dieter and Flora as your warm hosts.
They raise the food on site. The highlights for us were the mile-long unspoiled beach, the mangroves, the home cooking, and the lovely, tasteful and comfortable bungalows overlooking the ocean.
Sleep is peaceful, to the sound of the waves.
We woke up to coffee and fresh Tanzanian bread on our veranda. It was perfect for us and anyone looking for a special retreat close to nature.
If you are looking for perfect tranquility and home-cooked meals, this is the right place for you.
Dieter and Flora make an effort to grow their own vegetables and fruits, raise chickens for eggs, use solar energy for electricity and hot water, and buy fresh fish from fisherman on their own beach.
Ras Bamba is situated on a beautiful beach on the Indian Ocean south of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The bungalows are charming and well-appointed.
It is owned and operated by a very cosmopolitan Swiss/Tanzania couple who have lived in the USA and Europe and bring a first-class experience to the simple but charming surroundings.
The food, a delicious mixture of European and Tanzanian dishes, is superb.
It is great value for the price. Both adults and children will enjoy azure sea, perfect for body surfing and boarding. We will be back
