Protea Hotel Courtyard, Dar

Must say... I had some fun finding a hotel in Dar that suited my particular Ugandan palate. Fortunately my room at the Protea Hotel Courtyard came at a fair rate with all the necessary amenities. Tastefully decorated, the building is no doubt stooped in history and has a solid old style Colonial feel to it.

The rooms are well equipped and decorated to appeal to almost any taste. The bar was my haven of choice in the hotel... not for the booze but the relaxed atmosphere.

All of the staff members were tremendously patient, friendly and helpful to an ignorant tourist such as yours truly.

The food was amazing and I was impressed with the Lobster Thermidor.

Prices are good, portions are large and none of that pretentious nouvelle cuisine one has come to expect(which usually leaves one disappointed).

My only criticism is the lack of a cocktail menu in the Bar & Restaurant and only one PC was in working order in the Business centre during my stay... Other than that 10 of 10 & 2 thumbs up! I

Must also thank the Group General Manager for being so hospitable and friendly! Not very often one is approached and greeted by Management....

To all the staff at the Protea Courtyard I offer my thanks and appreciation for congratulate them on a job well done.

I do not enjoy leaving the comfort of my couch but will no doubt spend my next visit in Dar at this wonderful Hotel.
