Palm Beach Inn Zanzibar Tanzania

You are Here: › Palm Beach Inn

If you’re looking for one of the most idyllic spots imaginable, look no further. We stayed in the Palm Beach Inn in Bwejuu for 4 nights, which we record as one of the most memorable times of our lives.

This small, cosy guesthouse has cultural and rustic charm and is authentically Zanzibari.

Dinner each night was extremely tasty and plentiful, and fresh seafood of course in abundance.

Breakfast was as much fresh, sweet fruit and juices as you could eat, cereal, sweetmeats, toast and eggs cooked to your liking.

Rooms are clean, comfortable and simply furnished in Zanzabari style lending further to the quaint overall charm.

Good hot showers and A.C. which you don't really need as the gentle cooling breeze comes in from the sea

The village of Bewjuu is a little piece of the real Africa with simple brick houses with some mats for sleeping and a circle of stones to build a fire for coking.

We would be more likely to call them shelters.

We had a little guided tour by one of the elders who proudly showed us the new village well from which they collected their daily water.

We visited the little school and the kids proudly sung to us. Their excitement was almost palpable and we were extremely humbled.

Palm Beach Inn is situated right on the beach and each day the fishermen bring in their catch and barter for the best price.

Local women can be seen working the seaweed while others sit hammering and tenderising squid to sell to the restaurants.

At sunset the beach comes alive with the kids and the inevitable game of football

On our last day there we discovered we were the only people in the place and so negotiated a deal with Mahfudh .

To cut a long story short, between us, we brought just every child in the village into the hotel for icecream, sweets and coco cola.

Mahfudh played the guitar and the children joyously sang and clapped.

The Palm Beach Inn is not a 5 star luxury establishment.....so avoid if that's what you want. But if are looking for simple, clean and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful beach-front location with good food, chill-out and 5 star cultural experience being high on your list , this is the place for you.
I cannot wait to get back there.
