Lions Bluff Lodge in Tsavo West NP Kenya

You are Here: › Lions Bluff Lodge

I went on Safari in Kenya and stayed at Lion's Bluff Lodge and wow what a wonderful experience. The rooms are more like modern huts that overlook the park and on a clear morning during sunrise you can see Mt. Kilimanjaro.

We drove through empty savanna on rough dirt road (is there any other kind in Kenya?) until we found the road leading up to the lodge.

.This was an adventure in itself, since it went sharply up the slope on the crest of a steep sided escarpment, on both sides the views down to the plains were spectacular.

We drove upwards to the very end where the lodge was located so that from the lodge you have a 360 degree view of the flat open plains below.

It is truly stunning! The lodge itself blends beautifully into the landscape, very natural construction and furniture.

The individual permanent tents, which are well spread out, have a thatched roof and a small deck which looks out onto the plains.

The room was lovely, rustic to suit the environment but a very comfortable bed and an environmentally friendly shower, good for them! We had sundowners while we sat on the deck watching the sun set, it was magical.

The tables for dinner were set out on the deck so as we ate under the huge sky full of brilliant stars. The food was among the best we had on our trip so we enjoyed every aspect of our stay.

The rooms are very clean and cozy and properly suited for Africa at night, the water is quite hot for the shower and each have a balcony attached for more secluded viewing.

The staff is so accommodating and friendly, Naomi and David were tops and made me feel right at home. I came alone and never once felt lonely.

The food was very good as well, they found out i was vegetarian and lactose intolerant last minute and made sure that I was taken care of for each meal (they even made me cheeseless lasagna for lunch one day!). We ate under the stars in the evenings when it was clear. it is a very special place and i give it the highest rating.

We saw more animals in Tsavo East and Amboseli but it was well worth the stay at Lions Bluff just for the experience! Exceptional. Did I mention the view??
