I live in Uganda and have been to the various restaurants in the Golf Course Hotel Kampala Uganda on more than one occasion.
Spurs (a South African chain) offers decent burgers and steaks and the Bamboo Terrace is a little fancier, but still reasonably priced.
The hotel is conveniently located and there are many hotel amenities (golf, fitness centre, pool, etc...) I was pleasantly surprised when I entered my room. It was much larger than I expected.
The bathroom was huge with a beautiful walk-in rain-shower and a large soaker tub. The complimentary toiletries were better than average.
The view out on the golf course was nice and refreshing in a generally dirty and noisy city.
I found the reception desk staff to be extremely helpful even offering me the corporate rate (which saved me about $30 USD). There was a large selection of hot and cold items for breakfast.
More than half the rooms face a lovely golf course and in the morning the birds are right at the window.
It's very clean, extremely convenient to anything you might need, bank, food, shopping, exchange bureau etc. (within safe walking distance).
The food is good, the staff cordial and attentive. The only problem I had one time was using a credit card.
But, I think that it was resolved to my satisfaction. I have recommended this hotel to many others from our company.
They have returned to stay there again.
I had read various negative reviews of this. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is absolutely excellent.
The bathrooms are to die for and the rooms (or at least the double room we had) was the largest hotel room I have ever occupied.
The staff were courteous and helpful and it didn't take long to check in or out.
I will definitely stay here again as it's an excellent location for central Kampala but has breathtaking views so you don't realize you're in the middle of town.
