Emau Hill Forest Camp in Tanga

You are Here: › Emau Hill Forest Camp

The location of Emau Hill Forest Camp in Tnga Hotel Tanzania is lovely, nestled in the hills above sugar cane farms and tea plantations in Amani Nature Reserve.

The tented bandas are quite basic, just a canvas tent and two or three beds, although the furnishings give a nice touch to the place.

The food is good but simple, mostly vegetables available from surrounding areas.

We spend one night in the banda and camped for two nights and enjoyed the experience although the facilities are limited.

Be aware that there are no showers, but hot water can be brought to you in the morning or evening for bucket showers.

Overall we found the camping to be good value but the bandas were somewhat overpriced compared to similar places elsewhere.

The last 3 kms of road to get there can be treacherous in rain!

Beautifully set on a cliff on a small stream.

The tent rooms are simple but romantic.

They also have a couple of beautiful, secluded camp sites.

The food is great and the staff knowledgeable about the forest and its inhabitants.

Do not expect all modern conveniences.

The camp aims to be ecologically sustainable and therefore only has basic compost toilets and provides a bucket of warm water for washing. For those of us who love to go back to nature just perfect.
