Capricorn Beach Cottages in Tanga

We spent 8 days at Capricorn Beach Cottages in Tanga Tanzania during our recent trip to Tanzania, and were very impressed with all aspects of our stay.

Our cottage was light and airy and situated in attractive gardens full of baobab trees and bougainvillea, with sea views from the veranda – the perfect place to relax!

The cottages have self catering facilities (there is a shop on site that sells a good selection of items including homemade bread, beer and wine) but guests also have the option to have meals cooked for them if they prefer.

We spent several enjoyable evenings eating delicious barbecued fish on the ‘deck’, which overlooks the sea, and also enjoyed sampling the pizzas cooked in Capricorn’s pizza oven at lunch time.

Annabel, the owner manager, couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming - both before and during our stay - and did everything possible to ensure that we had a good time.

We enjoyed taking long walks along the beach in both directions and using bicycles (hired at Capricorn) to discover the bird life in the surrounding countryside.

This place is excellent. Cottages are all new and very clean; you can really see that management pays attention to every detail. Kitchen is fully equipped and very clean, it even has a microwave... And some free coffee and beer in the fridge !

Bed is huge and very good !

There are only three cottage, so service is tip top !! Really top !!

Breakfast is delivered at your terrace ! Fresh orange juice, fresh homemade baguette, fresh yogurt and good coffee !!

And there is a deli market so that you can do your shopping and cook yourself if you want to. And pizzas are good !

The only thing missing is a swimming pool :(

We can highly recommend the cottages as providing excellent value for money in a peaceful, unspoilt location – the price even includes a ‘breakfast’ basket (bread, fruit juice, jam and yoghurt) which is delivered to your veranda every morning
