Zanzibar Palace Hotel

Wonderful blend of the charm of an old building well kept. Worn, steep stairs require good legs, especially on the upper floors.

This is either a charming experience or an inconvenience, depending on your perspective.

We covered 22,00 miles and three countries on this trip ... and the Zanzibar Palace Hotel is the one place that always comes to mind for a return visit!

Owners and staff were warm, providing just the right balance: relaxed, accommodating service without formality or over-the-top luxury.

Every room is unique, with furniture picked to set just the right atmosphere.

Food at every meal was wonderful! It was tempting to not go out and explore the many local bistros and restaurants.

Pssst! Don't tell anyone about this treasure!

We stayed here two nights and would love to have stayed much longer.

The owners and staff were very cordial and we felt right at home.

Dinner was excellent and featured local seafood and South African beef. Breakfast was equally delicious.

Their magic coffee machines (German automatic espresso makers) were fabulous - perfect Americanos every time!

The building itself is amazing and the Kijani Suite where we stayed fit right in. Be a bit careful and mind the door thresholds and small steps everywhere (so standard for 3rd world buildings).

Location is tops - just a few minutes from the ferry terminal and a short walk to the main produce Market, the former slave market and other sightseeing in Stone Town.

The owners arranged our tours to a Spice Plantation and around Stone Town proper - all nicely handled and just right.

Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a boutique hotel located right in the heart of Stone Town (an Unesco World Heritage site).

It is independently owned and managed and an ideal home to explore and experience all the beauties of this magical town and Island.

In the nine rooms boutique hotel Zanzibar's rich history is integrated by Arabian, Indian and English designs ...

The tall thin building wraps around an atrium, with just three rooms on each of its three floors.

Each room has its own unique decor with many local originating antique pieces of furniture, magical beds, Persian rugs, colourful silks, etc.

A perfect place to unwind in the privacy of your room and daydream about the life of the Sultans and at the same time enjoy a wide range of modern facilities.

It is the staff’s dedication to offer the best-personalized world class service you can find.

One of the rooms has a staircase to an open air bathroom which has a sundeck, one of the highest points in Town from where the sun can be seen rising and setting.

Some rooms can accommodate up to 4 people so ideal for families.

All rooms are air-conditioned and served with cable TV connection. In addition, the rooms have, mosquito nets, fans, DVD players, telephone, safes, hair dryer, internet access as well as 24 hour room service
