White Sands Beach Hotel

White Sands Beach Hotel Zanzibar is not in Stonetown, but Kendwa beach.

We thought we got a good value here, as we stayed 3 nights here.

Staff was helpfull and the room was very nice. We stayed in one with Air-con, and we think it was a good choice, as it gets quite warm at night.

Breakfast was decent, and it is only 20 m from the hotel room, (1/2 of a bungalow might be more correct) to the beach.

The best feature of this beach is the location. In Kendwa's magnificent white sand beach, there are rows of hotels next to each other, White Sands and its neighbor Kendwa rocks, are among these hotels.

You can walk to the beach, swim all day long, and eat in the hotel's beach side restaurant.

This is a nice place to just get away and relax.

The hotel also provides beachside massages, henna painting, pedicures, etc at reasonable prices.

I tried the massage and it was very nice.

The room also comes with a free breakfast by the beachside restaurant.

There are touts, however, as you hang out by the beach.

That can be good or bad, depending on what you like.

They offer excursions like diving, snorkeling, fishing, spice tours, and whatever else you fancy, etc. Everything is negotiable.

Be vocal about having them leaving you alone if you want them to go.

They were not super-aggressive and would walk away if you asked them to, as I think the hotel walks a balance between having touts sell services for which some managers may get kickbacks, and not annoying guests enough that they would leave.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel, but more for the beautiful beach of Kendwa and the lovely restaurant/bar, than our lifeless, although clean, hotel room.

I would recommend this resort to anyone who wanted a friendly, low-key holiday.
