So, originally wanted to stay on Tiwi but all but the most expensive places were booked.

Moved on to Diani and didn't want to stay at a large hotel/resort. Found Vindigo Cottages Diani Mombasa down a short road which has a few cottages of varying sizes that sleep 2 to 10 people.

We stayed at the beach hut right on the beach which was very nice for 3600ksh per night. While the cottage was very good, the best part was the ability to hire a private chef for 500ksh per day (Fabian) who also cleaned the cottage.

In the morning the local fishermen would come by with the catch of the day and a good meal of prawns, crab, fruits and veggies were less than 600ksh for more than 2 people could eat.\

It really made the stay to have the meals prepared. Ask for Fabian and if you are lucky (he is there 3 months and at home for 6 weeks) you'll get his services.

The downside is there was frequent electrical outages, the bath could use an upgrade, and the damn monkeys steal everything in site.

It’s a decent place in Diani Mombasa if you don't want the hotel style.
