Tloma Lodge is a real surprise! Set off the main road down a rough track, the spacious grounds comprise about 20-30 spacious bungalows with large sliding glass doors, splendid gardens and a very nice swimming pool area.
Many birds are attracted to the lush vegetation in Tloma Lodge.
The central restaurant and bar is very comfortable with a large wooden deck for outside dining, and very good quality buffet breakfasts and dinners.
The lodge is managed by a young lady call "Happiness" who was extremely well organized and capable.
This lodge is exceptional value for money and a great find. I wish I had taken photos without people in to illustrate how beautiful the gardens are
The rooms were large and lovely, each with a fireplace which was cozy in the cool evenings of Tanzania's July dry winter season.
The staff were very helpful (how could they not be when the manager's name was Happiness!); the food was always good; the OAT tour of the local elementary school, Village market, and optional trips to the area's brick quarries, clinic, and church (the church gifted us with an amazing choir concert where we were asked to participate!), gave a good feel of what life is like in the area.
All but the school and village market were within walking distance.
There was no worry about eating the fresh vegetables which were all organically grown right there as was the coffee.
The grounds were beautifully landscaped and you could sit out on the porch and and enjoy an incredible view.
At night there was a Masai escort to our rooms since they try to keep light pollution to a minimum - never felt safer!
There was also a nice little shop and a place where you could connect up to the internet if you so desired.
