Sunset Hotel Kisumu

You are Here: › Sunset Hotel

Sunset Hotel is the best place to stay in Kisumu, Kenya...hands down.

Taking into consideration that you're in a third world country, the Sunset is a top of the line hotel.

Staff was always kind and attentive.

There are maybe two other really nice hotels in Kisumu, but they are located smack in the middle of town and it's just too hectic there.

Town is busy, dirty, and loud. Plus, it's hotter there than at the Sunset.

The Sunset is located just out of the town center in a quieter, safer, and much prettier area of Kisumu (in my opinion).

You can easily walk to town in 15 minutes...and it's a safe, easy walk during the day time.

You can always tuk tuk it back from town if it gets dark or you're too lazy.

Each room at the Sunset has a view of Lake Victoria...it's really beautiful.

Each night you get a sunset on the Lake as well. I loved the view. Being by the Lake was good too because it brought a nice breeze, which is much needed in the heat of Kisumu.

The sun is strong. You don't feel the nice breeze in town even though the Lake's not that far.

The restaurant area is really nice too. It's all open space in a wonderful garden setting. The pool area was nice to hang out in too...very pretty. Perfect for relaxing.

The hotel facilities are not modern and brand new, but it was definitely adequate. We had a TV that worked by antennae, but it received a few good channels well enough.

Bugs came into our room every night, attracted by our lamps, but that is inevitable because we're staying right next to the Lake. Use your mosquito nets!\

I didn't know too much about Kisumu or the hotel options before I got there, but I was really glad that we chose the Sunset by chance.

I highly recommend it! Kisumu isn't so much a hot spot for tourists...I only encountered a handful at the hotel.

I was mostly seeing business men. Lots of locals as well since many people come out to hotels as restaurants and bars in Kenya.

I saw three weddings come to the hotel for receptions too...which just goes to show that it is one of the prettier places in Kisumu.

Sunset Hotel the only and best 5 star hotel in Kisumu Town.

Located just five minutes from the centre of Kisumu city and 15 minutes from Kisumu Airport, the three-star Sunset stands in an attractive landscaped garden bordering the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary.

Guests staying at the Hotel have an uninterrupted view of Lake Victoria.

As its name suggests, the Sunset attracts visitors from all over the world who can view the magnificent sight of the setting sun from the privacy of their rooms.

In terms of accommodation, the hotel has a total capacity of 100 beds in 50 air conditioned rooms including standard, de-luxe and VIP rooms.

All rooms have separate shower and bath, multi channel satellite TV, in-room safe and minibar.

The hotel is famous for holding conferences, cocktail parties and family gatherings.
