Smiles Beach Hotel

The staff is great at Smiles Beach Hotel! Always smiling and helpful.

The rooms are clean and really nice.

Recently upgraded! Air Con in every room.

The hotel arranged a BBQ for my group, and the food was amazing!

They don't usually serve alcohol, but if you ask politely, they will buy for you.

(There is also a liquor shop in the village and on the beach a few hundred meters from the hotel, which you are allowed to consume in the restaurant.)

There are sun beds enough or all the guests.

I also like that the staff is nice to the "Beach Boys" who sell safaris etc on the beach. Some hotel owners are really rude to the local people and askes the guest not to talk to them, but at Smiles they know that the people is a part of the experience.

The only minus is the beach. It is much better a few hundres meters from the hotel.

Service was friendly but definitely not up to the standard of the other (probably much more expensive) places we stayed at.

The rooms were comfortable - bathrooms large with hot water on demand.

Wi fi as we found in most places in Tanzania was spotty and slow. Breakfasts were okay - pretty much the standard fare juice, coffee or tea, plate of fruit and eggs any way with toast.

I discovered near the end of our stay that they served French toast as well.

I would definitely stay here over some of the other more expensive places but your expectations can't be too high!
