Sele's Bungalows and Hotel in Zanzibar

You are Here: › Sele's Bungalows

I wish more 'hotels' were like Seles Bungalows in Zanzibar.

We stayed in the 'family room' which was absolutely perfect - two double beds - with nets - a little reading area with sea views and a hammock.

We couldn't have been happier.

Janet the owner is always around for a chat and to provide advice and the staff are friendly and very accommodating.

Matembwe itself is absolutely beautiful - there's not a huge amount going on which is exactly why I choose Matembwe over Kendwa etc.

It's the perfect place to go diving from - One Ocean Divers is next door to Sele's, to have a massage on the beach - Sele's can organise - or just to lounge around in one of the hammocks dotted about the place. Sele's have reef walking shoes (highly recommend them as there are sea urgins all over the place when you get further out).

A very welcoming staff and an intriguing looking beach around Matemwe village surround you upon arrival.

Seles is a good chill-out spot at very good value, their restaurant and bar is always fully stocked and plenty of eating options are available throughout the day at good value.

The beach is just awesome; you can either walk to a massive reef for snorkeling during low tide, or swim for it during high tide, if you have the stamina.

The Mnemba atoll is a boat ride away for great snorkeling and diving.

Seles will arrange that for you at a good rate. Their rooms are small (we stayed in the small dbles in the back) but equipped with new aircons and fan for the comfort. But we didn't spend all that time there to be in the room.

Sele’s bungalows are a great budget option when visiting Matemwe!
