Today, after total refurbishment, The Stanley has readopted its original name and much of its original character.

The hotel is famous for its cuisine as well as the open-air 'Thorn Tree' cafe, a meeting point of East Africa since the time of the renown Ernest Hemmingway, is still as warm and as welcoming as it was in those early days.
