Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

We have stayed in many safari lodges but Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge was a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience. The service was impeccable, and staff and management impressed us with their warm hospitality and efficiency.

I don't know how they did it but only hours after returning from our hikes our muddy gear was cleaned, a cosy fire burning in our lodge at our return, and tea or coffee waiting.

The lodge is also the closest high-end accommodation to the National Park Center and we received some excellent tips even before the briefing by the park guides.

The location and views of the volcanoes are stunning and if you are an avid photographer, the lodge is the place to be as the manager Nelis is one of the best wild life photographers we came across and happy to share tips and provide you with insights.

Oh, not to be forgotten the excellent food which we enjoyed probably too much of during our stay. Overall, a true gem not to be missed!

For those on here, who have complained about the walk up to the Lodge from the car park; the staff would probably have carried you up, if asked and anyway it is good practice for the gorilla trek!

Apparently most tourists just come to Rwanda for the mountain gorilla experience.

It is a shame, because they are missing out on the rest of the delights of this amazing country & its people, who have done wonders in such a short time to overcome their traumatic past
