About NEP Technical Training Institute


NEP Technical Training Institute was established as a community-based Technical Secondary school in 1983.

In 1985 it was taken over by the Government and in 1998 it was converted to a Technical Training Institute.

Currently it is the only Government Institute that offers Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurial training in the whole of North-Eastern province and its environs.

NEPTTI is located on a 58-acre piece of land along Sankuri Road, 3 km from Garissa town center.

It is adjacent to Umu-Salama Girls Secondary School, 300m from KENGEN power generating plant.

NEPTTI is managed by a Board of Governors appointed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and run on a day-to-day basis by a Principal who is appointed by Teachers Service Commission (TSC)   


Departments


NEP Technical Training Institute has the following departments:

  • Entrepreneurship Education Department
  • Technical Department
  • Computing and Information Studies Department
  • Business Studies Department

Admissions


The Institute conducts its admissions quarterly and all courses offered are advertised in the media. Once the courses are advertised, applicants can send in their duly filled application letters, with the necessary fees, to the registrar either by email or by post.

Note. 

· All forms must be signed before returning them to the Admissions Office. Certified copies of the following documents must be attached;

1. ID/Birth Certificate/National ID

2. O’level certificate/Result slip

3. Academic transcripts (If any)


In addition, students should bring;


4. Two colour passport-size photographs

5. A recommendation letter from a religious or administrative leader

6. A dully filled medical certificate from any Government hospital 


· Application fees (Kshs 400) can be deposited in the following NEPTTI bank account numbers: 110730292 Garissa Branch, Kenya Commercial Bank or by Money Order payable to the institute.


· The deposit slip must be attached to the application form when forwarding to the admissions office, a payment receipt can be obtained later from the same office. 


Students Welfare


We have a vibrant student life. We believe in interactive leadership and open discussion of students’ issues.

The NEPTTI Students Council is the body that represents registered students of The NEPTTI Students Council offices are highly competitive and are filled through a transparent and vigorous electoral process where candidates work to sell their manifestos to the electorate.

General student issues are channeled through NEPTTI Students Council office.

Every class in the institution has a class representative who is the leaders of the class and oversees the daily needs of his/her class. The leaders are trained on leadership skills and management whenever they assume office.

Transport:


The Institute provides transport to students. There are three buses that are scheduled on different routes.

The buses follow strict departure times and students are advised to stick to the fixed pick up points along their routes to avoid being left by the buses.

Students are required to pay at the finance department at the beginning of each new semester after which they shall be issued with a bus pass which must be produced when boarding the bus.


Special organized groups like clubs and societies planning to make an official trip are required to make prior arrangements with the Administration Manager through the Dean of Students two weeks before the date of travel.

Approval must be sought from the Dean of students if the travel charges are to be charged to the club’s account.

The Institute acquired one new 51 seater bus and this will improve the service delivery to the students. The institute also has a van that is at the students disposal.

 

Hostels and accommodation:


The Institution has adequate accommodation facilities separate for both male and female’s students on the institution grounds. Those who wish to get their own accommodation outside of the institution can do so. The neighborhood of the institution is safe and accommodation is readily and cheaply available.
