Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort Zanzibar

You are Here: › Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort

From the minute we arrived at Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort Zanzibar,

we were treated like royalty! the rooms are super stunning with air-condition and mosquito nets -

balcony overlooking the pool and ocean - the beers were cold and refreshing.

The staff really looked after us beautifully, lounging in the pool, turning around and there will be a cold beer!

The cleaning staff is like ghosts - you turn around and your room will be clean, beautifully decorated with flowers.

Just sitting at the bar and watching some of the most spectacular sunsets ever seen!

Other Holiday Hotels, Beach Rentals and Holiday Villas

The location is perfect for the ultimate getaway and relaxation - beautiful soft white beaches - warm ocean water (for us this is a luxury coming from Cape Town's icy waters!)

The beach is beautiful but swimming is not an option at low tide due to the extreme Zanzibar tides. If you walk a little way down the beach to the mangroves, you'll feel like you’re on a deserted island paradise. White sand, turquoise waters.

We did a snorkel trip with Dutchie (the activities manager) which was world class. Like diving into a hot water aquarium. We went for a lunch at the Rock restaurant which is an absolute must.

You have to go there for lunch - food is outstanding and the view and experience are ridiculous.

You'll probably never eat at a more unusual location.

We did a Stone Town and Spice Tour which were very interesting (a must if you like understanding the culture and history of the places that you visit).

The snorkelling was good but it is much better closer to the hotel (by the Rock restaurant), the island beach is majestic but it was so hot that you couldn’t appreciate the beach, the seafood lunch was amazing (everyone gets lobster).

All in all - I would recommend Michamvi to anyone wanting a truly Zanzibar hotel experience - they cook local dishes as well as western food and have locals from the village doing performances (singing to acrobatics).

There are also no beach boys on the beach, actually we never really saw anyone on the beach and you could walk for miles!

The service, pool, weather, staff, rooms, food were great and I will go back to that resort and will convince my mates to drop the resorts in the north and go relax an Michamvi.
