Kigali Michael's Den Hotel

Michael’s Den Hotel is a new hotel located in Remera, a small commercial hub about 8 kilometers from the centre of Kigali.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to meet any requirements you might have and to give you advice about how to get to where you want to go.

Good internet connection is also available.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean.

I had a room overlooking the street, which during the day can appear noisy because of the constant traffic outside.

However as most people go home to bed early, the traffic noise drops to practically nothing by about 10 pm so I had no trouble at all sleeping.

There are rooms overlooking the small garden area out the back, but I would recommend the street side because it gives visitors the chance to watch a slice of daily life in Remera, which is always entertaining.

The restaurant is good value and does an excellent breakfast. There is a buffet on busy days, or you can ask for exactly what you want from a selection of fruit juice, cereal, porridge, toast, omelette, plate of selected fruits, tea and coffee.

On Friday night there is a small band that comes to play Rwandan and Congolese music in the bar area, which makes it a popular spot for Rwandans.

Settle back and enjoy with some local beer or get up and dance if the mood takes you - it is a very relaxed fun evening.

Overall this hotel is MUCH better value than the more famous Chez Lando nearby which from what I heard used to be good years ago, but has been resting on its laurels for a while
