Marine Holiday House

Marine holiday House in Malindi Kenya is a perfect place to relax with your family. The hosts and staff are very welcoming and make you feel at home. It's calm and pleasant environment makes it qualify for a nice holiday place.

On arrival we got a welcome reception including a cool drink from Anthony the always present servant as well as the italian woman running the place.

We got some information from her on sometimes a quite limited English(her husband slightly better).

Our room was clean and spacious. One double and one single bed with mosquito nets attached and some furniture in dark rustic style. Roof fan was enough to keep us cool during the night.

Bougainvillea flowers were spread in a nice pattern on the beds as a welcoming guesture.

The bathroom was also very spacious with washbasin, toilet, bidet and shower

.

Food was a story of itself. In the web pages "the restaurant" offers Italian meals.

Well it did but it was more of a home cooked deal than restaurant set up.

You had to order the food at breakfast and the choices were few.

The hotel garden was nicely landscaped and the pool excellent.

In fact the cleanest we ever tried.

The neighbourhood consisted mainly of similar huge houses and was generally very quiet.

The local beach was within 10 min walk and if felt safe to do that walk during daytime.

That beach was inside the national park but despite big signs at the entrance daytrippers did not have to pay anything.

Facilities included an horrible expensive upmarket lunch restaurant with pool and private sun chairs as well as "masai" waiters.

A new establishment was under construction and the basic fish and chips/cold drinks outlet might have to close down. Not many annoying "Best friends" trying to sell the snorkelling trip or safari tours at this part of the beach.

If you are looking for a more activity packet stay you probably have to go for the very expensive up marked hotels.
