Hotel Travellers Tiwi Beach in Ukunda Mombasa Kenya Coast

You are Here: › Hotel Travellers Tiwi Beach

We have visited the Hotel Travellers Tiwi Beach Ukunda area twice, and this hotel offers fantastic food choices and a fantastic beach.

The hotel has a section of beach about 250 meters long with its own sun beds and Italian Restaurant right on the beach with the best view.

If you step off the hotels section of beach you do get a bit of hassle from the locals trying to sell you everything and anything, but they soon give up when you say no. I never felt unsafe on the beach on my own.

If you like the beach this is a great hotel for you, you can walk along the beach for miles and only pass the odd person.

Don't expect to leave the hotel, unless on an excursion or a walk on the beach.

Both times we’ve been, we have had a free 2 day trip to the elephant sanctuary, which is a must and you get to see load of elephants of all ages.

The food choices are very good. The main buffet restaurant was the usual all-inclusive fare.

The specialty nights were very good - especially the Chinese and the Italian ones.

There are other a la carte restaurants which you can book on all-inc basis.

You can then either go all-inc with the set menu or pay and choose from the a la carte.

We did both - Indian and Chinese restaurants. There is also a very nice Italian on the beach - we had both lunch and dinner at this one - looking out to sea was fantastic.

We 'found' the snack bar for lunch after a few days.

This served burgers, chips, toasted sandwiches and we liked having lunch here as you get served and it's outside and by the pool. Service is good.

You just need to book near the Reception for the a la cartes. They didn’t open everyone every night - but you could always get in when we were there.

There were 2 pools connected by a 'river'. We found the top one the quiet one for relaxing during the day - complete with swim-up pool bar. The bottom one was where for children and a bit more lively.
