Hotel Kiwengwa Apartments and Hotel

Upon arrival at Hotel Kiwengwa Apartments in Zanzibar, I was met by the owner himself and I was made to feel very welcome and at home immediately.

The lodge is small and therefore very personal and intimate, perfect for a couple's get away, a family holiday, or if you're traveling solo like I did.

The food is superb, a mix of Italian and traditional African cuisine.

Not many lodges around Zanzibar offer African dishes so I was delighted to see the menu. Trying the Ugali is a must and no cutlery is allowed!

The rooms are basic but offer everything you need when you chill by the pool or hang out on the beach all day long. The beds are huge and very comfortable.

Each cottage has a private veranda. They are located around and facing the swimming pool at the center of the premises, the pool consisting of a deeper part perfect for a morning swim and a section that is kids friendly.

The beach is located some 2 minutes away and it is a beautiful and quiet stretch of beach.

Within walking distance you will find many Italian clubs with boutiques and bars and the local bar Obama is well worth a visit if you like dancing barefoot to Bongo Flavor in the sand under the stars.

I would without a doubt recommend this lodge to friends and family and anyone who are are looking for accommodation in a lower price range but who wants great service, great food and stunningly beautiful surroundings. The value for money at this place is just incredible
