Hotel Kiponda for Bed and Breakfast

You are Here: › Hotel Kiponda

I cannot say enough good words about Hotel Kiponda in Zanzibar.

I stayed here for three days while taking Kiswahili lessons.

Some of the rooms on the lower levels are less nice, but if you are given one you don't like the look of, ask to see another - those on the middle and upper level are nice.

There is a roof-top cafe where they serve an excellent breakfast (muesli, yoghurt, fruit, and made to order omlettes, all included in price) and the staff, like most Zanzibari people, go out of their way to help you.

It's close to Forodani food market and a Mercury's, as well as a million other excellent eating spots.

Price of accommodation is negotiable, especially if you plan on staying a while, so it can be excellent value for money if it's not peak season and you're a good bargainer.

It is, like most places in Stone Town, close to a mosque, so expect to be awakened at an early hour. Make sure you try the odd-coloured fresh fruit juice at breakfast - it's amazing!

Kiponda Hotel is a very nice and charming hotel in the center of old Stonetown. It means that everything you like to visit in town is on walking distance.

The hotel self is great. The rooms are simple but very clean and have very good bed, incl mosquito nets. Hot water is available and some rooms have airco and all of them have a fan.

But the best is the breakfast. It is served on the roof terrace from where you have a nice view. The breakfast is great, specially for a budget hotel.

Also the staff is very friendly and helpfull. The manager Salma is great!! If you want you can book your excursions in the hotel and the roof terrace has free wifi.

The best part of staying at this hotel was the complimentary breakfast. Instead of the standard egg breakfast, we were greeted with the most delicious avacado-lime juice, cereal with fresh yogurt, fresh fruit, and good bread for toasting. Breakfast is served on the third floor terrace which is shaded and delightful.

Other patrons that we met at breakfast were people that had stayed at the Hotel Riponda before. We can understand how this hotel could generate return business.

All together it makes Kiponda hotel the best budget hotel in town with a real good atmosphere. Feel home here.

Thanks for everything!!!
