Kigali Hills View Guesthouse

You are Here: › Hills View Guesthouse

We had looked at other hotels in Kigali, but found them a bit out of our price range (as we are working as budget travelers).

However Hills View Guesthouse is very reasonably priced, with rooms costing around 15000 - 20000 RWF per night, including breakfast (about £15 - £20).

We arrived in Kigali by bus, and the owner (James) was kind enough to pick us up from the bus park and take us to the guesthouse.

The rooms in the guesthouse are clean, and most have their own bathroom (there are some rooms with shared bathrooms for 10 000RWF). All rooms have colour TV, hot water and very comfortable beds.

All the staff in the guesthouse were very friendly.

The guesthouse also serves meals - African cuisine such as muchomo (barbecued meat), matooke (steamed savoury bananas), stews and chips etc. The bar stocks a range of beers, wines and spirits etc, for reasonable prices.

The guesthouse is situated on a hill about 15 km out of town, near Kigali airport. The views from the terrace are spectacular and the setting is very peaceful.

It's easy to get to town from Hills View: you can either take a Moto (motorbike taxi) for about 2000 RWF, a minibus taxi, or a special hire (private taxi) for about 7000 RWF.
