Fairytale Villa & Guesthouse Zanzibar

You are Here: › Fairytale Villa & Guesthouse

We found Fairytale Villa and Guesthouse after a bit of internet searching and recommendations from friends that we look for something off the usual tourist path.

It was a great decision.

Tucked away from the main tourist areas, Fairytale villa sits 30 meters from the warm blue waters of Zanzibar Island.

The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable.

The villa also offers a laundry service and getting on the internet if you really need to.

Once humbled by the absence of a hypermarket you will submit to the beauty of simple living. Chagua, the house manager, is the best part.

He is an able chef, concierge, dhow captain and reef guide.

There are also great local options for eating out, so definitely worth exploring from the outset.

The local produce is fresh and tasty and there are several nearby restaurants, run by villagers, and offering delicious, healthy, homely cooking with Jambiani flavours.... a special mention to the Beach Lapa.

We loved the fact that Fairytale villa is nestled in the midst of village atmosphere.

We were there during the Football World Cup and enjoyed the bubbling energy of world cup fever that was evident throughout the village.

Karsten, the owner, and Chagua, the house manager, were friendly, effective and unobtrusive - providing fresh and enticing breakfasts and great advice on the best things to do.

They also helped us avoid getting “mazungafied” by the few local traders taking advantage of tourists.

A trip to the historically beautiful Stonetown revealed how refreshing the little village of Jambiani is in comparison.

Another highlight was the proximity to Dolphin village, 30 min away, where you can swim with dozens of dolphins in their own habitat.

We'll definitely be back to relax in the comfort of the villa and to further explore the surrounds.

You will feel genuinely cared for.
