Nairobi Delta Hotel

We felt quite lucky to discover Delta Hotel in Nairobi City Kenya. From by the office (where the lady was very helpful) an unpromising staircase led up to a surprisingly spacious upper gallery, which was one of the lounging and eating areas, and off this were rooms also surprisingly large; ours had a mesh screen dividing it from what was in effect a large balcony overlooking a street.

We came down by devious ways (almost through the kitchen!) to a large restaurant area that rambled through from one street to another.

Something suggested that business people say to each other "Let's meet for breakfast somewhere - how about the Delta?"

Great atmosphere....Exceptional staff and Amazing food! Not your usual city center hotel setup, they really try to make you feel like you’re away in a beach resort room once you are in the rooms.

It's pretty basic but dirt cheap and represents good value for money. I asked for a quiet room on the top floors, and it was dated but perfectly adequate.

It was called an 'economy' room, there wasn't much space around the double bed, there was no a/c or mod-cons, but there was a TV, the bed was comfy enough and the bathroom was spotless. And it only cost 4,000 Ksh.

I didn't stay for breakfast but it was included. It all felt very secure and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

It's pretty decently located in the central part of town - and is a two minute walk from the Norfolk if you fancy somewhere relaxing nearby for a coffee.

Functional, cheap and safe.
