Dar es Khana Khazana Restaurant

Don't be fooled by the modest furnishings: plastic chairs outside. That's what Indian friends living in Dar told us when they recommended this their favourite Asian restaurant in town. We were really glad we took their advice.

Dar es Khana Khazana Restaurant has just what we like in a restaurant: excellent food and waiters who know their stuff.

The menu is impressively long, and in addition there are new dishes that are not even on the menu yet, if you ask.

We have eaten a many of the top restaurant in Dar over the years but we have come across a place called ‘Khana Khazana, Managers tel (--) Mr. Mohamed.’

We found him to be very accommodating and overall we loved the great personal service.

A lovely surprise to find out that everything they cook here is using fresh ingredients, nothing pre made here and it definitely shows in the taste of the food.

It’s simply delicious, thinking about it makes my mouth water but the only down side was that there were so many dishes we still hadn’t tried. They serve Indian, Chinese, pizza, vegetarian and bbq food.

We aren’t vegetarians but for those who are, just to let you know, they have a separate kitchen section for vegetarians and they have about 27 vegetarian dishes.

To be honest I didn’t know that there were that many vegetarian dishes.

On our last visits with 2 friends, we had 3 starters, 3 mains meals, rice, nan breads plus drinks, and this all came to about 50,000 tsc (about 25 pounds sterling).

You can eat in an air-conditioned area, underneath the cabana or outdoor eating area (btw they have an open kitchen so you can check out what is being cooked).

There is free parking available and it’s a great place to enjoy some very tasty delicious food. Try it yourself and enjoy, we did.

The down side to this place, was us having to leave. We need to get back and work our way through the menu.

Try the pahari kebab, kaveri kebab (this is served in a charcoal dish at your table), the dhal was really tasty.
