Country Lodge Karatu

You are Here: › Country Lodge

Located on the edge of Karatu, about a 10 min drive from Ngorongoro Crater, Country Lodge in Karatu Town Tanzania is Lovely hotel.

The chalets are quite roomy and clean.

Huge bathroom with a rustic feel. Only bar soap is provided. Hot water is provided via boiler, but I found you needed to let the water run for quite a few minutes before it warmed up.

The water also had a metallic smell to it. Electricity

is provided via generator. Electricity was available at about 6pm. Beds are quite firm.

There are mosquito nets provided. There is a fireplace in the room also. Don't know how often they are used.

Meals are DELICIOUS. It is a set menu for dinner, the hotel staff come around with the entrees, and you scoop out however much you want onto your plate.

Beware your lunch box though. Although the meal is great, there are ants in the box!

This is also a cheap location to get your laundry done. $1 USD for pants, $0.50 for socks/underwear.

They do your laundry by hand, and it is then air dried. If you are only washing small amounts, they are able to pop it into the dryer for you, if need be.

Staff are friendly, although some of them don't seem to speak English very well.
