Butiama Beach Hotel

You are Here: › Butiama Beach"

Sure, it is a little more expensive getting to Mafia, but if you are looking for a relaxed, intimate holiday and want some quality time with you loved ones, Butiama Beach Hotel is definitely worth the trip. Hope to go back soon.

Butiama Beach Hotel is beautiful, intimate hotel staffed by friendly, service minded people.

The decor is gorgeous, calming, and reflects the island culture of Mafia.

The food is great, good selection of cocktails, good breakfast buffet (getting good bacon is not easy in tanzania) and the greek salad is a MUST TRY (the feta!! good cheese, again extremely difficult to find in tz).

We were given Chalet no 3, a mere 30 metres from the beach. The room was impeccably neat and tidy, and designed to very comfortable standards. We didn’t have aircon, but the cool breeze and fan were sufficient. There was a mosquito net as well.

Maura is a great host, who has acquired unbelievable staff who are able to help you with any need. The service was amazing.

We went on many excursions, the highlight being the trip to swim with the Whale Sharks.

Most of the other excursions involve going to the other side of the island to dive or snorkel, and these trips were great. ( just note that going to the other side means entering the national marine park, where they charge you $20 each time you enter )

Overall, Butiama is great. Perfect to unwind and relax. The service, food, and hosts were top class, and I cannot say any bad things about our time there.
