I was a regular visitor to Blue Mango Hotel in Kampala City in Uganda during my recent year-long stay in Kampala.
This was a good value. The restaurant is fantastic.
We spent many hours sitting outside in a tropical setting relaxing. The food is wonderful and inexpensive.
The rooms are nothing to get excited about. But - they are very clean with good service.
We had electricity (and hot water) every other day - just like most Ugandans in Kampala do.
The Blue Mango does not have its own generator like many of the big expensive hotels do. We liked it.
The atmosphere in the popular restaurant/bar/lounge, straddling the pool, is that of a giant chill-out room with sofas everywhere, cool lighting and Buddha Bar style music.
The staff are
extremely friendly, the food is great (I recommend the steak) and the
management (Mark and Andrea, both Brits) are great fun and extremely
professional.
The Nile rafting departed right from the hotel.
