Normad Palace Hotel Garissa is the best tropical hotel that I have stayed despite the insecurity threats in relation to Al Shaabab. It’s a very safe place got surprised with how beautiful the premise was. Received a warm welcome from the reception area. The rooms were amazing fully equipped with A/C,flat screen etc.

Breakfast was adequate not forgetting lunch. The conference room is a modern state of art technology.

This is simply the best hotel in the area and is frequently visited by UN and other NGO's.
I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends

If you are traveling to Garissa, you are probably there on business -- unless you are in search of that rare cut of camel meat or want to experience a taste of Somalia without going there.

Regardless, the Nomad Palace is the only decent place to stay in town. The rooms come with AC, mosquito nets and hot water. Security is in place. There is also a good restaurant.

Also, be prepared for heat like you've never felt before.
Service is pedestrian, food is average (though not unreasonable), and comfort levels are adequate. Bathrooms are in need of renovation, but serviceable.

Location is not particularly convenient, and you will need transport to anywhere if you stay here. Plus you will probably get woken fairly early by the call to prayers. Be ready for that.
