Murera Springs Eco Lodge

Murera Springs lodge is amazing. I have stayed at other lodges in and around Kenya's National Parks including Sarova and Serena lodges and this lodge offers amenities those others don't.

From the moment you arrive the attentive staff led by the kind, effusive, friendly, funny manager, Gabriel are welcoming and excellent; the staff are not pushy, rushed and demanding like the staff at other lodges.

The food was fantastic. Instead of encouraging gluttony and over-comsumption with a vast buffet and endless bottles of wine, Murera Springs serves the 5-star food on individual plates.

But by far the greatest aspect is the location: set amongst the trees and shrubs of an oasis, the location supports a quiet, calm, COOL (temperature wise) atmosphere. The size of the resort (45 guest maximum) also provides a much more intimate, inviting experience.

Our two night stay there was a total treat, from the comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, great food, and friendly companionship from the lodge's manager and staff to the incredible night sounds from the forest surrounding us and the beauty of the nearby game preserve (Meru National Park).

The lodge even has a small but clean and well-maintained swimming pool--a refreshing way to recuperate from the day's hot and dusty safari rides.

And the lodge's ecological focus and reliance on solar energy, recycled materials, reduced energy and water consumption and other sound practices made the experience even more special--without compromising comfort in the least. All in all, it was a truly memorable and delightful experience that I hope to repeat soon.

It was creative, tasty, as well as healthy. The service and the hospitality are as good as you will find at any 5 star resort, at a third of the price.
