Mara Gypsy The Luxury Safari Camp

Mara Gypsy - absolutely LOVED it! My friend, parents and I stayed at this luxury camp in masai mara.

Just in time for the migration, although half the time we didn’t even need to see it as it wandered through the camp, which was fabulous!

We took our time sitting on our tented decks watching small herds of wilderbeast, zebra and gazelle grazing happily.

This place is so secluded in the middle of the forest/jungle it’s like being in a Tarzan movie! The tents are gorgeous, the food was fantastic and the staff were incredibly warm and friendly. I couldn't recommend it more.

We were met at the private airstrip by Shaun (the owner) and taken on a short drive back to the camp.

The camp is well hidden away in a forest and what surprised us was the total privacy as the tents are far apart from each other.

A nice cold drink and a cold towel awaited us and with no formalities to keep us waiting we were whisked away to our tent overlooking a river.

The bathroom is massive!!! The likes of which we have never seen before! Amazing!!! We even wanted to skip that afternoon game drive to enjoy our room!

The game drives were superb; we saw everything we wanted to see including lion kill and a cheetah with cubs.

We were taken for a drive in our own 4x4 and it was nice not to share it with anyone.

Peter, our guide for the 3 days we stayed there, was very knowledgeable and took great pride in his work.

You can choose to have your meal in the main restaurant or in the private dining pod, your breakfast is prepared al fresco in front of you. The whole set up is great! The Tuskers (Kenyan larger) were cold, the wine was chilled and our stay was perfect. If you are still thinking where to go this is the place to be!
