Lake Kivu Serena Hotel

It's really difficult to rate Lake Kivu Serena Hotel but when compared to where we had stayed gorilla trekking, it gets 4*. It's a typical corporate hotel; rooms are very clean and have everything one might need.

This is THE hotel on the Lake Kivu on the Rwandan side.

Stunning Lake-views from the balconies, lush tropical gardens and large, inviting pool, excellent staff and attentive waiters in one of the best restaurants I've dined at in Africa (have visited 18 African countries).

Not Michelin quality, but really fresh, elegant, varied and good food.

As there is not an awful lot to do in Gisenyi town itself, you will be spending quite some time in your hotel.

That's why this place is the right place to choose when you're there. It's not very expensive. We payed 150 US a night.

The room itself was a bit tired, and I would have chucked out the wall-to-wall carpet, but otherwise it was fine and very comfortable/clean.

You can really relax and enjoy life at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel, Gisenyi
