Kono Kono Beach Villas Hotel in Zanzibar

We spent twelve days at Kono Kono Beach Villas Zanzibar in February and it was a fantastic holiday. The resort has pathways and gardens complete with colombus monkeys, and a great beach and. The food is great and served by candlelight by the bonfire every night on the beach and the soups are delicious. Having breakfast on your own patio each morning and a plunge pool a few steps away is a definite bonus and very relaxing. The staff cant do enough for you, are friendly and go the extra mile to make you comfortable, they really made our trip.

The spa is worth several trips and the massages are well done in a great surrounding and turn left after the beach bar and walk up the beach a little way and you'll come across a special bar called Kae Funk, a very very chilled place to spend the afternoon.

Our sea view villa was the perfect place to start our days, with fantastic breakfasts brought to our patio area every morning - and all hot and freshly cooked to order - whilst we watched the tide go out as the bushbabies jumped from tree to tree, the timid and shy monkeys lurked in the shrub and various birds began their constant chorus of chirping.

The villa itself was beautifully decorated, spacious for two people, comfortable and cleaned to a high level.

The complimentary after sun lotions were also a lovely touch. The shower was big enough for two, as probably was the outdoor bath and the view from both the shower and the bath out to the beach was magnificent.

The bed was extremely comfortable, with linen changed daily and the fresh flowers left on the bed saying "enjoy" was a sweet touch.

The plunge pool was cleaned and filled everyday and was the perfect place for dipping in and out when it got too hot.

The beach is truly out of this world. I've never walked on sand that feels like sifted icing-sugar! And it's very easy to lose whole days just laying in a hammock or on a comfy sun bed with your head in a book and not a care in the world!

In closing let me say that if a wonderful, isolated beach where you can just relax is what you want then you will probably enjoy the resort.

Many of the guests when we were there were honeymooners and we thought it would be perfect for them.

If you want to explore the island, if you are a stickler for service, or if you want fine dining with many choices this is not the place for you.
