Having planned a two week wilderness tour we wanted somewhere to relax for a few days while up near Nakuru and found Kembu Acacia Cottages in Njoro .

It fitted all our requirements. Easy to book and pay direct with Zoe's prompt responses.

We took Kenana Cottage for five nights as a package for the three of us.

We lounged around some days and on others drove up to Baringo (early start so skipped breakfast), visited the NP on another and also walked a gorge up to villages in a fertile Volcanic Crater.

As we had been mainly self catering prior to our visit it was nice to be waited on in our cottage as well as hosted by Zoe, Andrew and family for breakfast one morning and dinner another evening.

The cottage was clean and comfortable with one double and one twin room, both en suite, and an excellent kitchen and lounge area.

The kitchen was well equipped but we never got to do anything more energetic than brew some coffee/tea, make a snack and take a cold Tusker (or two) from the Fridge.

Food wise we were asked when we wanted to eat and it arrived and was prepared and served for us.

Even down to the washing up afterwards. We had no quarrel with that arrangement!

There is a Restaurant and Bar close by if we felt the need for company and all prices in the Bar were very reasonable.

Take a torch.

Driver accommodation was "free" and meals discounted for him.

The grounds bounced with birds for those that do this sort of thing, we do and got some great viewings.

Cool enough at 7,200' for different species than Lake Baringo or Nakuru and anywhere that has Golden-winged Sunbirds in the garden gets my vote!

I have seldom felt so comfortable or relaxed. The simple, rustic style of the cottages and the log fires to warm you on a cool Kenyan evening were a million miles from the rat race and I enjoyed every minute!
