Hotel Flamingo in Arusha

Hotel Flamingo

We've just spent best part of a month travelling throughout Tanzania and cannot recommend Hotel Flamingo in Arusha highly enough. For the price (USD30 per night for Double) it doesn’t come better than this.

The room was clean and comfortable, there were mosquito nets. There was also a compact desk and comfortable cow hide chair. They gave me a second floor room which was appreciated as a single traveler.

One major thing to consider - there is a mosque very close and noon prayers are over loudspeaker and as it was a Friday, very long.

Other Places of Good Accommodation

The African Tulip | Arusha Safari Lodge | Mount Meru Hotel | Hatari Lodge | kibo-palace-hotel | Kigongoni Lodge |   Dik Dik Hotel | Hotel Flamingo | Mount Meru Game Lodge and Sanctuary | Snow Crest Hotel |   Mountain Village Lodge | Point Zone Hotel | The Arusha Hotel | East African All Suite Hotel & Conference Centre |

The other calls to prayer were more muted and though I woke up at 3am prayers, it was otherwise a quiet location.

Reception was polite and prompt. Breakfast was egg, fresh fruit, toast and chai. No coffee.

There is a small lounge with bar and a TV. It was tuned to a sports channel, but very quiet- thus no disturbing. There are several places in the area for lunch or dinner and it’s close to all the markets.

Ian, the manager, is a friendly guy who always takes the time to talk if he's around.

The staffs are all very nice and they clean the hotel every spare moment they have! Considering the dust outside in Arusha, the hotel is impeccably clean and well maintained.

It is located very close to the market, Arusha main bus stand and not far from the main dalla stop either.

There is a barclays ATM a few minutes away, and another ATM for NBC bank not far either.

The only negative is its proximity to the mosque which means a 5am wake up call, but thats common for a few places in Arusha and didn't really affect me so much.

All in all, great experience and yet to be fully discovered by many visitors to Arusha...this place doesn't seem to get mention in the main guide books so is less used than say Arusha Backpackers
