Chobe Safari Lodge

What to say about Chobe Safari Lodge? I live in Uganda and we did not spend the night here but here is my perspective:

upon recommendation from a friend who has run tours here for 10 years, we stopped at Chobe Safari Camp for lunch on our way to Paraa Lodge, then drove across the park from Chobe to Paraa for a game drive.

I am so sorry we did not book at Chobe. It is stunning. Decor is gorgeous - a million miles away from the Stone Age villages you drove through to get here. You can actually (almost) forget you are in Uganda.

A real dream. The views are breathtaking. The pools (4 of them) keep the kids occupied for hours.

There is a beautiful gym! The food, well, the food buffet is to die for. AND they let us eat lunch there for free as part of our Full Board package at Paraa since the same company owns both lodges.

There are 3 different kinds of lodging at Chobe. Hotel rooms with A/C's (very important in dry season), raised huts on stilts - gorgeous, or luxury tents.

The problem with Chobe is that it is not in the part of Murchison Falls NP where you can see the big game - elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo.

Yes, there may be a few wandering elephants, but Paraa Lodge is much closer to the big game.

However, I live here. I have seen the game. I am looking for an escape from the doldrums of daily life here, and Chobe can provide that respite.

I will never stay at Paraa again. It is Chobe for me.
