The Bay Leaf Boutique Hotel Arusha

I stayed at the Bay Leaf Boutique Hotel before our safari and after my Kilimanjaro hike.

Fantastic hotel although more expensive than others we looked at it was worth it.

Food

I arrived late on Christmas day and they were able to accommodate me with duck samosas which were amazing even after the kitchen had closed.

I also was able to eat in the lobby of the hotel for dinner. The restaurant is world class.

I had some Kenyan beef which was amazing and welcome after the food on the mountain climb for 8 days.

The breakfasts were amazing as well. I will never forget the beet juice I had over there.

The chef also made a to-go lunch for a safari I did to Ngorongoro.

Bay leaf is located on a quiet, leafy road and when you pull into the drive it is like arriving at someone's very beautiful home.

You walk past a lovely garden with tables outside as well as a restaurant and small bar to reception, all of which are staffed with the politest, most helpful, charming people.

What made this place for me the best place to stay was the people. The service is spectacular.

I really felt as if I were staying at someone's home. I returned from a week of camping climbing Kilimanjaro coated in layers of dirt and dust, almost ashamed to even set foot in the hotel.

The staff welcomed me with the widest of smiles. A week later, remembered, welcomed and taken care of.

Everyone really did their utmost to help me out with whatever it is was that I needed/desired: they arranged for expedited laundry service, directions, took messages when I missed my appointment with my guide, or just chatted with me during dinners to ensure I (as a solo travel) was well taken care of. Fabulous.

You have everything you need that you would get from a large hotel but the customized service and friendliness that you can only find with a small establishment. Bay leaf - I cannot wait to return!!

Highly recommended and I would say without hesitation the best hotel in Arusha and great boutique hotel on par with any other high-end in the world.
