Dar es Salaam Alcove restaurant

You are Here: › Alcove restaurant

We ate at the downtown, original venue of the Alcove restaurant (there is now one in the Sea Cliff Hotel).

Excellent quality and good value for DAR. Very safe, clean and not a concern for foreigners, who typically have to watch out what they eat / drink whilst in Tanzania.

Portions look small, but they are of good quality and very filling!!!

The location is really cool, great bar for pre-dinner drinks and of course the Sea Cliff is a fairly good place to be.

The restaurant lacks a bit of style ad it is very noticeable when you move from bar to the dinner table.

The service is so - so but okay and sometimes the food is good.

Sometimes it’s not ! It is not too difficult to get Indian food prepared fresh is it.

Overall not bad, would go there again as an alternative if you stay in Dar for long periods.

The menu is adequate and strangely enough features Chinese and Indian foods.

I tried both and the Indian food is better than the Chinese in terms of preparations, taste and presentation.
